Koraput: Several hand written posters opposing the Maoist Bandh were put up at different parts of Hatibari area near Nandapur of Koraput district today. In the posters, the act of violence by red rebels as well as their attempts to derail the process of development has been opposed.

It is pertinent to mention here that the CPI Maoists of Andhra Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC) had given the bandh call today protesting fake encounters by police.

According to sources, road communication in the Koraput district has been disrupted as Government and some private buses stayed off the road as a precautionary measure in view of the Maoists bandh. Besides, shops and other business establishments also remained partially closed.

On the other hand, the Maoists have put up posters in Madakapadar in Malkangiri district threatening locals in the region for not carrying out development works in the region. The Maoists have also threatened to punish them in Kangaroo court.

However, it has not been ascertained whether such posters have been put up by the Maoists or any other group.
