Locals nab chain snatcher, thrash him

Angul: Locals at Balaramprasad village under Nalco block of the district today nabbed a chain-snatcher while he was trying to escape after snatching a chain from a woman.

Eyewitnesses said, the accused, who was on his bike approached the woman pedestrian walking down the street and snatched away the gold chain she was wearing.

As the woman screamed for help, a few commuters began chasing the miscreant and got hold of him near the community centre.

The accused fell off from his bike following which he was severely thrashed by the public and later handed over to police.

He was later admitted to the district headquarters hospital in a critical condition, informed sources.
