Bhubaneswar: Permission has been sought from the Odisha Government to allow home delivery of liquor during the 14-day lockdown in the State.

In a letter to the Special Relief Commissioner and secretary-Disaster Management Department, the Principal Secretary SK Lohani sought permission for home delivery of liquor during lockdown.

“Home delivery of liquor (CL/OS) by CL/OS licensees may be permitted following the extant guidelines of Excise Department,” the letter read.

The Principal Secretary stated, in his letter, that consumers may resort to illegal and informal channels to avail the liquor, if the same are not available during lockdown period. It may be harmful to their health and safety, he stated.

The statement further said all the Beverage Corporation godowns may remain functional in strict adherence to Covid protocols in order to maintain the supply chain.
