Bhubaneswar: A servitor at the Lingaraj temple along with three of his family members have reportedly tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours.

As per preliminary reports, all them have been kept in isolation and already necessary contact tracing has reportedly begun as per protocol.

The issue of a servitor testing positive for coronavirus infection is certainly a worrying sign as the cases in the Capital city are registering a steep rise in the past few days.

The development comes in the backdrop of 23 Covid-19 positive cases having been reported from the campus of the prestigious Xavier Institute of Management Bhubaneswar (XIMB) in the Capital City earlier on Monday. The discovery of such large number of positive cases has prompted the BMC seal the institute and bar entry/exit into the campus.

In neighbouring Cuttack, a private residential college has been sealed after 25 persons, including students and staff members tested positive for the virus infection last week.

In the wake of such large number of new cases reported in the last few days which has raised fears of a second wave of the pandemic, the BMC has issued revised guidelines for celebrations of Holi and Dola Purnima festivities in the Capital City even as the Chief Secretary has convened an emergency meeting with all district collectors to take stock of the pandemic situation in the State and issue appropriate directions to contain the spread. The new instructions are expected later during the day.
