Speaking on the matter, Puri Sub-Collector Bhabataran Sahu said, “Marking is being done near Srimandir through DGPS mapping. Arrangements have been made so that people don’t face difficulties.”

After the marking process, a blueprint will be taken out to ascertain what portions of different mutts will be demolished.

Meanwhile, the chiefs (Mahants) of different Mutts heaved a sigh of relief after Supreme Court asked the Odisha government to undertake demolition & eviction work in Puri as per the law.

Ramakrushna Das, Chief of Radhaballav Mutt said, “We are now feeling relaxed as the authorities can’t demolish building without proper intimation. They have to follow land acquisition law and we welcome the Supreme Court’s directive.”

Chief of Kataki Mutt, Bijay Ramanand Dash said, “After the new directive, they have to issue gadget notification and speak to people before continuing the demolition drive.”

The displaced residents have demanded that the local administration should take care of them during the demolition drive.

“We are used to these crowded markets, so the administration should speak to the displaced residents and make proper arrangements,” said a local resident, Madan Hota.
