Lightning Kills 6 People In Odisha; several others injured

Kendrapara/Puri: As many as six people have been killed and four others injured in lightning strikes at separate places in the State today.

While two persons were killed, two others sustained critical injuries after being struck by lightning at Karanj village in Mahakalpada block of Kendrapara district.

One person each was killed in Marilo and Gotribila villages of Garadapur block and Naranpur village of Marshaghai block in the district.

Similarly, a woman was killed while 2 others were injured in lightning strike while working on a farmland near Bantu village of Nimapara in Puri district.

The Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has forecast thunderstorm and lightning alert for several districts in the State today. People living in Daspalla, Nuagaon, Nayagarh, Odagaon blocks of Nayagarh district, Jagannath Prasad block of Ganjam district and Dhenkanal, Hindol, Odapada, Gondia blocks of Dhenkanal district have been asked to remain alert.

Similarly, lightning warning has also been issued for Bhuban, Kamakyanagar and Athagarh blocks.
