Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued ‘Orange Warning’ with thunderstorm and lighting alert for five districts of Odisha.

Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara between 0830 hours of March 28 and 0830 hours of March 29, read a bulletin issued by the IMD.

The weather forecasting agency has said that light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj. Similarly, one or two places over the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Kandhamal may witness inclement weather during the same period.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Kandhamal, Puri, Ganjam, Khurda, Nayagarh and Cuttack.

At present, the cyclonic circulation over south Chhattisgarh & neighbourhood extending upto 1.5 km above mean sea level has become less marked.

Strong gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is likely to blow over North –West Bay of Bengal and along and off Odisha Coast. The fishermen are advised not to venture into sea along and off Odisha Coast and North-West Bay of Bengal during 29th March to April 1-2021.
