New Delhi : The last rites of Odia Flight Lieutenant Sunit Mohanty, who died aboard the Indian Air Force (IAF) transport aircraft AN-32 that crashed in Arunachal Pradesh on June 3, were performed with full military honours at Brar Square in New Delhi on Friday.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Vice Chief of Air Staff and other senior officers of the Indian Air Force laid wreaths & paid their respects to the departed Air-Warrior.

Flight Lieutenant Sunit Mohanty, who hails from Baliapalli of Kabisuryanagar, had boarded the AN-32 aircraft which took off from Jorhat in Assam on June 3.

Those who died in the crash are Wing Commander G M Charles, Squadron Leader H Vinod, Flight Lieutenants Sunit Mohanty, L R Thapa, MK Garg and Ashish Tanwar, Warrant officer K K Mishra, Sergeant Anoop Kumar, Corporal Sherin, LAC (leading aircraft man) S K Singh, LAC Pankaj, and non combatants Rajesh Kumar and Putali.

Earlier, the IAF's AN-32 aircraft had gone missing on June 3 and the wreckage of the plane was spotted at the border of Siang and Shi-Yomi districts in Arunachal Pradesh almost after eight days of a massive search operation.
