Bhubaneswar: Odisha Skill Development and Technical Education Department on Thursday issued a notification for spot admissions into various industrial training institutes (ITI), polytechnic, engineering colleges and technical universities.

As per the latest notification, the second phase admissions into various government ITIs will be completed by August 10, 2019. So far, 11,875 students have taken admissions in 49 government ITI institutes in Odisha. The total number of seats in these institutions is around 18,182. The students, who fail to take admissions in these phases, can opt for spot admissions which will start from August 13.

Technical Education Secretary, Sanjay Singh informed that skill development department is making sustained efforts to bring in new initiatives to create a vibrant learning ecosystem in its polytechnics and engineering colleges.

The second phase admissions in 39 polytechnic institutions will be completed by August 13 while the spot admissions to fill up vacant seats will be held for two days on August 14 and 15, 2019. So far, 5,204 students have taken admissions after the completion of the first phase admission.

“The state government is giving special focus on encouraging girls to take admission in various vocational and technical education institutions.  Last year the total enrolment of girls in vocational and technical education institutions was 17 % and so far 10 % girls have taken admissions this year,” said Singh.

Singh further informed that a special ITI for divyang students has also been set up at Jatni in Khurda district.
