Paradip: Members of the United Land Loser Farmers’ Forum today staged a road blockade near Rangiagada Chhak demanding regular employment for the local land losers in the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) in Paradip.

The members of the Manch alleged that despite having discussions with the administration on providing jobs to the local people on the basis of qualification, the administration has failed to take any step for them.

The Manch further alleged that the authorities have deceived the locals by making false promises of providing employment in the company due to which they have staged picketing on the road.

The Manch also threatened that the agitation will be intensified if their demands are not fulfilled soon.

Meanwhile, police forces have been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward incident and take stock of the situation while the company authorities are yet to comment on the issue.

Abhayachandapur IIC, Bichitrananda Sethy said, "Few days back, a discussion was held between local administration, IOCL authorities and some employees of the company. Already 15 persons were given employment. The Manch is demanding to provide jobs to a few other people and we will hold a discussion on this again."
