Bhubaneswar: BJP legislature party leader KV Singh Deo has requested Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to move a resolution in the State Assembly during the forthcoming session to express gratitude towards former Prime Minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

In a twitter message, Singh Deo said keeping in view the contribution of Vajpayee towards Odisha; he is requesting the CM to move a resolution in the House as a tribute on behalf of the people of the State.

“In a tweet message, I have requested the CM to bring a resolution following a consensus in the House. Starting from providing assistance during super cyclone to setting up Paradip refinery and establishment of AIIMS, he has lent a helping hand to the State,” Singh Deo said.

Commenting on the matter, Congress MLA, Prafulla Majhi, said “Definitely this practice has not happened earlier as per my knowledge. It’s up to the CM to take a decision.”

“Everyone will accept Vajpayeeji’s contribution towards Odisha. But to bring a resolution in Assembly, there is a procedure for that. If the House decides to bring such a resolution, it can be moved,” said Amar Prasad Satpathy, the ruling party chief whip.

Yesterday, at the all-party & public memorial service of Vajpayee in Bhubaneswar, CM Naveen Patnaik, PCC chief Niranjan Patnaik and other leaders had paid tributes to the departed soul.
