Bhubaneswar: A group of students of Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) 3 in Mancheswar area of Bhubaneswar staged protest on Saturday night demanding action against school authorities after a Class XI girl student allegedly attempted suicide on Friday.

The agitating students have reportedly given a 48-hour ultimatum to the school authorities urging them to take action against the Principal and a lady physical education teacher of the school. Besides, they have also demanded transfer of the duo.

The students alleged that the girl attempted suicide as she was harassed by the PE teacher and the Principal is supporting her without taking any action.

“We demand that the Principal and PE teacher should leave the school immediately,” said one of the agitating students.

The agitators also claimed that no action has been taken over the incident even though a case has been lodged with the police. “Already an FIR has been filed against the Principal and the PE teacher. However, the police are yet to act upon,” alleged another student.

Earlier, members of Parents’ Association had staged a demonstration in front of the KV Sangathan’s deputy commissioner office in Bhubaneswar over the incident.
