Gunupur: 'Rocket fired at an Indian Army convoy near border. Some soldiers get martyred while some are taken hostage by terrorists. Thereafter a large scale rescue operation is launched by the Army to extract the hostages and get the perpetrators to justice' - The plot of patriotic short-film, Kurbani-The Sacrifice of Life, that was released on 15th August 2020 moves from here and takes you to an exciting journey of patriotism, valour and sacrifice.

Though a short-film, it encompasses the essence of nationalism and the endurance of India's men on the border who brave hostile terrains and inclement weather to keep the country's sovereignty intact.

The most interesting thing about this short-film is that it has been made by around 70 enterprising youths from Gunupur area of Rayagada district who contributed from their pocket money to fund this venture. Now their hard work and patriotism is bringing accolades from all quarters.

Livingston Takiri, an artist who is a part of this film says, “The movie is about the sacrifices our soldiers make at border. Hope everybody will like it.”

Similarly, Binay Kumar Pal, another artist explained about their endeavour behind the movie. “The thought to make such a film took shape while we were forced to stay indoors due to Coronavirus induced lockdown and shutdown. Without much to do, we decided to do a movie as an ode to the soldiers deployed at the border,” said Pal.

As per reports, another fascinating fact about the movie is that it was shot entirely in Gunupur with a total budget of around Rs 15,000.

Heaping praise on the lads, a social activist from the area, Akshay Kumar Das said, “I congratulate them for achieving such a feat. I hope this film will encourage other youths to serve our country in any way possible."
