Koraput: Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday caught the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of Nandapur here red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1.75 lakh.

As per sources, the officials of the Jeypore division laid a trap based on a complaint and held the CDPO Snigdharani Mishra who in her office was receiving the bribe amount from a contractor reportedly to issue a duplicate bill.

It is being alleged that the CDPO is involved in massive corruption in supply of kits to anganwadi centres, wherein a supplier is preferred according to the amount s/he gives to the CDPO for the same. And subsequently, as per the decision of the CDPO, the contractor bribed her with Rs 1.75 lakh as soon as the office reopened after Dussehra vacation today.

Till last reports came in, a search was on at her office. Mishra has been detained by the officials and will be taken to Koraput for further interrogation.
