Khordha: Bodies of a woman and her 11-month-old-daughter were found on a rail track near Abhimanpur village under Tangi police limits here in the district on Sunday.

Though on what circumstances the duo died is uncertain, locals suspect that the woman along with her daughter might have jumped in front of a moving train to end their lives.

Meanwhile, family members of the deceased have lodged a complaint against their son-in law Pramod Kumar Swain, accusing him of murdering their daughter and granddaughter.

In the complaint, the kin of the deceased have alleged that their daughter was often physically and mentally assaulted by Pramod over family feuds.

Receiving the complaint, Tangi police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident. The bodies have been sent for the post-mortem.

“The mother and her daughter have been run over by the train. It does not appear to be a natural death. However, exact cause of death would be known after the post-mortem report is received,” said a police official.
