Kangaroo Court: Youth Tied To Pole, Thrashed In Odisha
Jajpur: A youth was tied to a pole and reportedly thrashed black and blue by locals in a ‘Kangaroo Court’ trial at Laxmi Nagar village under Panikoili police limits in the district on Saturday.
The youth had allegedly decamped with a two-wheeler after taking lift from a motorist couple of days back.
Citing that he needs to visit a nearby village for some urgent work, the accused approached the motorist to give his bike.
“He asked me for lift. Though I helped him, he stole my bike,” alleged the bike owner.
Subsequently, a group of villagers intercepted the youth and recovered the stolen bike from his possession. Later, the youth was allegedly tied to a pole and thrashed by the irate mob.
After getting information, police reached the spot and rescued the youth. Meanwhile, Panikoili Police has begun a probe into the incident.
