Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has directed Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) to form enforcement squads to take action against convention centres, Kalyan Mandaps/Marriage Mandaps in the city operating without adequate parking facilities.

“A large number of convention centres, Kalyan Mandaps and Marriage Mandaps have come up in very important places in the city and are functioning without adequate parking facilities leading to congestion, chocking of roads and preventing free movement of traffic in the surrounding areas,” a letter from the Principal Secretary of the Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) department, G Mathivathanan to BMC and BDA highlighted.

“These are serious issues which require immediate attention and steps need to be taken both by BMC and BDA,” the letter added.

The letter further pointed out that Kalyan Mandaps without parking facilities are largely seen in Sai Temple, Tankapani Road, Patia, Infosys and some other important areas of the city.

“Enforcement squads may be formed immediately with relevant officials and enforcement drive taken up on daily basis and daily report be submitted to the principal secretary," the letter instructed.
