Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Sunday placed under suspension the deputy collector of Kalahandi, Anisha Das on charges of dereliction of duty.

The move followed a disciplinary proceeding contemplated against Das for negligence in discharging the government duties, lack of absolute integrity and dereliction in duty, according to an official order issued by the State revenue and disaster management department.

Das has been suspended with immediate effect by the order of the Governor, the order letter undersigned by Bishnupada Sethi, principal secretary of revenue and disaster management department added.

During the suspension period, Das will report at Kalahandi Collectorate and must not leave the headquarters without obtaining the prior permission of the District Collector.

Das will be entitled to the payment of subsistence allowance in accordance with Rule-90 of Orissa Service Code, the order added.

It is reminded here that Das, the former tehsildar of Betnoti in Mayurbhanj district, was transferred by the State government and posted as the Deputy Collector of Kalahandi a few days back. She was accused of demanding bribe from a truck owner in Badasahi area.

The truck owner had lodged a complaint against the OAS officer at Baisinga police station. In his complaint, the trucker alleged that the tehsildar threatened him and forcibly took away Rs 6,000 from his truck. He had submitted an audio tape as evidence against the tehsildar.

However, Das had refuted the allegations and claimed that some people were deliberately conspiring to tarnish her image.
