Cuttack: Justice Kalpesh Satyendra Jhaveri was sworn in as the new Chief Justice of Orissa High Court today. Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal administered the oath of office to the new chief justice at a special function here at Orissa High Court in presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and other senior officials.

Justice Jhaveri was appointed to the post after the Law Ministry issued a notification regarding the same last month on July 4.

He will replace Justice Vineet Saran who has been elevated as a Supreme Court judge last month.

Earlier on Saturday, Justice Jhaveri along with his family members visited Puri Srimandir to seek blessings of Lord Jagannath.

Justice Jhaveri who started his career from Gujarat High Court successfully undertook several portfolios in the Bar and made an additional judge in 2004. He was made a permanent judge in 2005 and later transferred to Rajasthan High Court in 2016.
