Bhubaneswar: The Supreme Court Collegium today selected the name of Justice KS Jhaveri for the top post of the Orissa High Court.

With the development, Justice Jhaveri will replace outgoing Justice Vineet Saran as the next Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court while the latter will be elevated to the Supreme Court.

"As for the vacancy arising due to Justice Vineet Saran’s elevation to the Supreme Court, Gujarat High Court judge, Justice KS Jhaveri has been recommended to be appointed as the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court," a statement issued by the Collegium stated.

"Justice KS Jhaveri is a senior puisne judge from Gujarat High Court and has been functioning on transfer, in Rajasthan High Court. Having regard to all the relevant factors, the Collegium finds Justice KS Jhaveri suitable in all respects for being appointed as Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court and recommends that he be appointed as Chief Justice of that Court," the statement added.

Enrolled at the Bar in 1983, Jhaveri was made an additional judge of the Gujarat High Court in 2004 and became a permanent judge in 2005 and was later transferred to Rajasthan High Court in 2016.
