Bhubaneswar: The Odisha unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to launch a five-day long padayatra initiative starting tomorrow (December 20) demanding justice for Nayagarh girl Pari.

Several central leaders of the party will take part in the rally which will continue till December 24, informed State party spokesperson Jatin Mohanty today.

As per the schedule, the padyatra will be taken out from Lingaraj temple in Bhubaneswar. The party leaders and activists will reach Jadupur, the native village of the five-year-old girl, via Janla, Sarua, Pichukuli and Itamati.

On the concluding day of the procession, a massive meeting will be organised in Jadupur.

“From December 20 (tomorrow), the padayatra from Bhubaneswar to Jadupur will begin. The padyatra will commence at 9 am tomorrow from Lingaraj temple. We will take out procession about 20 km each day and complete the 98 km padyatra in five days,” said BJP spokesperson Jatin Mohanty.

He said leaders of the party from the grassroots level will take part in the rally in different phases demanding justice for the minor girl who was raped before being murdered.

Recently, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Odisha Crime Branch, probing the sensational case, in its affidavit submitted before the Orissa High Court mentioned that the minor was raped before being murdered.

The abduction and subsequent murder of the little girl sparked a state-wide outcry after the victim’s parents Soudamini and Ashok Sahoo attempted self-immolation in front of the Assembly building during the winter session.
