Jharsuguda/Cuttack: In yet another incident of man-animal conflict, a woman was trampled to death at Bhoimunda village under Brajrajnagar block in Jharsuguda today.

According to sources, the pachyderm had entered the village today morning and attacked the victim killing her at the spot. On being informed about the incident, a team of forest officials and police reached the spot for investigation.

In another incident, panic gripped the residents of sector 8 and 9 of Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) after an elephant strayed into the locality today morning.

After the pachyderm was spotted, a joint team of forest officials and police reached the spot and began an operation to drive away the elephant, informed sources.

“Currently the elephant is in the forest near Prachi hospital. Its movement is being constantly monitored by our staffs” informed Cuttack Range SCF Bikram Dev Pattnaik.

“We are asking people to stay at home and choose alternate roads to commute,” he added.

Meanwhile, vehicular movements have also been prohibited in the area to avoid any untoward situation.
