Cuttack/Bhubaneswar: Odisha government on Saturday directed the officials to complete the pending works of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)-assisted Odisha Integrated Sanitation Improvement Project (OISIP) in the Twin City of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar by 2019.

The progress of sanitation projects was reviewed at the State-level steering committee meeting chaired by Chief Secretary AP Padhi here.

Official sources said that nearly 75 percent of the work for laying of the pipelines and 95 percent work for the Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) have been completed in Cuttack.

Similarly, expansion of sewerage line and construction of sewerage treatment plant in Bhubaneswar have been completed by 70 percent and 58 percent respectively.

JICA Project Director, Basanta Parida said, "The JICA project work in the twin city is under progress since last five years. Construction of STP-1 in CDA is almost completed and will be inaugurated in October 2018."

Parida further informed that the construction of STP-2 in Matgajpur will be completed and made operational by December 2018. On the other hand, STP in Bhubaneswar will be completed by March 2019.
