Bhubaneswar: Just a few days after getting the much-awaited 4-C category license for running bigger planes like Airbus-320 and Boeing 747, the Jharsuguda airport may get inaugurated on August 21.

Informing about the development, the airport director, SK Chouhan today said that as per telephonic conversations the airport could be tentatively inaugurated on August 21.

“Right now we don’t have any official confirmation and neither do we have any idea about the detailed programmes associated with it,” Chouhan said.

The airport authorities have further said that there is no confirmation so far on the exact date of flight operations.

Earlier on August 1, the airport authorities informed that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had granted a 4-C category license to the airport thus allowing it to operate larger planes.
