Koraput: The family members of the two labourers who are still trapped under the debris after a portion of a hill collapsed at Bariput in Jeypore yesterday, lodged an FIR at Ranigarh police outpost today against the construction company.

As per the complaint, the families of the two trapped labourers, Ghanshyam Guru of Deogarh district and Sanjay Das of Athagarh in Cuttack district who were engaged at the site as JCB operators have demanded the cancellation of the license of the construction company.

"Some officials from the company should remain present and monitor the entire rescue operation which is yet to be completed even after 42 hours of the incident. The license of the firm should also be cancelled," demanded Rudrabhanu Patnaik, Sanjay's brother.

On the other hand, one of the two JCB machines that were trapped under the heavy stones was pulled out today, sources added.

"My son's co-worker called me over phone and informed about the incident following which we reached here today. I want my son back and will seek stern action against those who are responsible for the mishap," said Duryodhan Guru, Ghanshyam's father.

Meanwhile, fire personnel, ODRAF and company officials are engaged in a massive rescue operation while cranes and a team of NDRF from Cuttack are expected to reach the mishap site shortly.

"This is very unfortunate that even if 42 hours have passed, no steps have been taken yet to rescue the trapped JCB operators. The ODRAF and fire officials are sitting idle as no senior officials are present at the spot to expedite the operation," alleged the president of Adivasi Unnayana Parishad.

"We had called a crane yesterday and the operator told us carrying out the rescue operation is not that difficult. But as the stones are piled up one above the other, it is delaying the operation," informed Additional SP of Koraput, B.I. Rao.
