Bhubaneswar: Refuting the allegations of pending electricity bills against him, former parliamentarian Baijayant Panda today stated that the Biju Janata Dal had already probed the allegations when he was in the party and found those untrue.

Panda also said that former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik's name is being misused for 'Biju Gunda Vahini' to physically attack the political opponents.

A few ruling party activists reportedly raked up the issue during a cultural programme at Talcher today. While presenting flower bouquets to Panda they created ruckus bringing in allegations that Rs 800 crore electricity bill was pending against him.

Speaking to media after the programme, the former MP said, "It is totally a false allegation and there is no such dues. This false allegation has been going on for years, but the BJD checked and found it to be false, now suddenly they are trying to do propaganda.”

“I have repeatedly clarified and refuted this over the years. It is sad that late Biju uncle's name is being misused for this 'Biju Gunda Vahini’ and government funds are also being misutilised to physically attack political opponents", added Jay Panda.

Office of Jay Panda also took to Twitter to deny the false allegations.

In another instance when similar allegations were levelled, Panda had refuted those also. As the general elections are round the corner, such frivolous allegation was raised again with political motives, he said.

Terming the allegations as an act of political vendetta against him, Panda had further clarified that he is not involved in any type of corrupt practices.
