Jagatsinghpur Youth’s Death: Police Rule Out Murder, Hint At Suicide

Jagatsinghpur: In a strange twist to the mysterious death of a youth at Daagaon village under Balikuda Police limits of Jagatsinghpur, police on Tuesday ruled out murder angle and claimed that it might be a case of suicide.

Citing preliminary investigation reports, the police said that the youth, Krushna Champatiray, a resident of Kanchanpur village under Chandpur police limits in Nayagarh district, could have committed suicide by setting himself on fire after pouring liquor or any other inflammable substance on him.

“Preliminary inquiry and the circumstantial evidence hint that the youth committed suicide. He poured some inflammable liquid on him before setting him on fire. He had also cut his hand and wrote ‘Madhu’ with blood,” Jagatsinghpur SDPO, Prakash Chandra Pal said.

“We are also probing the murder angle and have questioned the suspect woman, wife and mother of the deceased. The autopsy report is yet to come. We are waiting for the report to ascertain the exact cause behind death,” Pal added.

Earlier, the wife of the youth had alleged that he was set on fire over an illicit affair. She has alleged that the girl with whom he was having a love affair was the mastermind behind his murder.
