Jagatsinghpur: Member of National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC), Yogendra Paswan arrived in Odisha on Thursday for a probe into the shocking incident in which a girl committed suicide after allegedly being raped at Tentoi village under Naugaon Police limits of Jagatsinghpur district.

Paswan met the family members of the deceased girl who allegedly committed suicide on November 7 after 'failing to get justice.'

The girl reportedly committed suicide after a youth, who was in a one-sided love affair raped and circulated her objectionable pictures. The accused was subsequently arrested on November 9, two days after the death of the girl.

“Nothing is more heinous than raping a woman and pasting her obscene photographs on the walls. We have directed the district and police administration to analyse the case and add Section 376 (C) to the existing charges against the accused,” said Paswan.

Two days back, MoS Home, Dibyashankar Mishra in his statement in the Odisha Assembly also admitted that the girl ended her life out of shame.

“The girl committed suicide out of shame after a youth who was in a one-sided affair with her, circulated her objectionable pictures,” the minister had said in the House on November 26.
