Bhubaneswar: With 2019 general elections round the corner, Odisha is all set to witness clash of political heavyweights as both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and AICC president Rahul Gandhi are likely to visit the State this December.

Addressing mediapersons during a public awareness rally in Buhal gram panchayat of Nischintakoili, BJP Odisha in-charge Arun Singh today informed that PM Modi will visit Odisha to attend a mega public rally in Khurda on December 24.

Talks are doing rounds that PM Modi could sound poll bugle during the event considered to be a precursor of the upcoming political campaigns for the 2019 general Assembly and Lok Sabha polls in Odisha. The event will be a part of party’s ongoing state-wide ‘Jana Paramarsa’ programmes aimed to spread awareness against the failure of the ruling-BJD government.

Sources further revealed that several senior leaders are scheduled to join the BJP in presence of PM Modi on December 24.

The Prime Minister had last visited Odisha during September earlier this year when he unveiled a plaque to mark the commencement of coal gasification unit at Talcher fertilizer plant and dedicated the newly constructed Jharsuguda airport to the people of Odisha.

Meanwhile, in another development, OPCC chief Niranjan Patnaik has informed that party national president Rahul Gandhi will visit Odisha in the last week of this month.

Rahul will most likely arrive in Odisha on a two-day visit either on December 22 and 23 or Dec 27 and 28. However, Patnaik said the dates are tentative and the final schedule of the programme will be announced in a day or two.

Political circles are abuzz with talks that the Congress chief will give poll mantra to inspire party cadres ahead of the general elections. The AICC chief is also likely to highlight the alleged failure of both the Centre and the state governments.
