Balasore: In yet another instance of mob fury, three persons were reportedly thrashed after they were allegedly caught while stealing from a house at Kulida village under Bhograi block of Balasore district in the wee hours of today. Moreover, alleging failure on the part of police to put a check on robbery incidents in the region, the villagers gheraoed the inspector-in-charge after he reached the village to rescue the detained youths.

According to reports, the locals got hold of the three persons while they were escaping after stealing some machines from one Srinivas Jena's house at around 1:20 AM.

“I saw some persons loading the machines in a car. I immediately alerted some people in the village and later we intercepted the thieves a few kilometres away from my house,” said Jena.

Gopal Parida, another local resident stated that "I was watching television when Srinivas called me and informed me about the theft in his house. Later, we nabbed the suspects and brought them to the village.”

In another similar incident, a man was tied to an electric pole and thrashed by people in Baripada yesterday. According to reports, the person was beaten up for  allegedly stealing a goat.
