Gajapati: The Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) will distribute LPG cylinders at subsidised rates in three flood-hit districts-Ganjam, Gajapati and Rayagada.

According to sources, beneficiaries under the Ujjwala scheme can avail a cylinder at Rs 200 while non-beneficiaries will have to pay Rs 1200 per cylinder.

Apart from that, oil companies will provide assistance in making new documents as many of them were destroyed in the floods. IOCL has announced that it will organise camps to provide cylinders at different locations.

The overall flood situation has eased in various parts of the State as waters started to recede almost two days after the heavy rain which lashed several parts under the impact of very severe cyclonic storm ‘Titli’.

Most parts of north Odisha as well as others pockets in coastal districts had earlier witnessed flash floods and waterlogging following heavy rain since Wednesday.

Similarly, the flood situation in Ganjam district is also improving with water-level of major rivers decreasing as there has been no rainfall in the past 2 days in the region.

Though floodwater is also receding from several localities, people are yet to come to terms with life.
