Bhubaneswar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will investigate how gangster Tito managed to acquire licence for a petrol pump in Kendrapara.

In this regard, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry had sought a report from the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL). Later, it came to light that rules were flouted in commissioning of petrol pump outlets to Tito.

IOCL found that retail outlet in the name of Ms Sayed Brothers Filling Station at Badahat of Kendrapara Town and an ad-hoc dealership of COCO (Company Owned Company Retail Outlet) at Paradip Port Trust in Jagatsinghpur were commissioned in violation of guidelines, a release from the corporation revealed.

“In view of several irregularities and seriousness involved, Ministry of Petroleum, with the approval of PNG Minister has advised IOCL to refer the matter to CBI for thorough investigation. Today IOCL has referred the matter to CBI for thorough investigation and necessary action,” informed Chief General Manager of IOCL, Pritish Bharat, in a release.
