Paradip: A pipeline of the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) laid between Atharbanki and Nehru Bangala area of Paradip developed leakage today causing spillage of diesel into the nearby river.

As per reports, the oil leakage has started to pollute the water body posing a major threat to the aquatic species.

Although the exact reason of the leakage has not been ascertained, it is being suspected that some miscreants could have drilled the pipe in an attempt to steal oil.

On being informed, police reached the spot and initiated a probe into the matter. The investigating cops are suspecting the involvement of oil mafia in the incident.

The pipeline is used to transport oil from the Paradip port to various oil terminals.
