Malkangiri: In a major crackdown, Malkangiri police has busted an inter-State racket that used to force minor girls into flesh trade. As per reports, six persons including two women from Kolkata have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Senior police officials informed that the sex racket was operating in a clandestine manner at several parts of MV-1, Tekabadi, Malikeswari colony areas of the district. Acting on a tip-off, a raid was conducted and a minor girl was rescued from the spot.

Besides, the cops have arrested six persons including two women and seized three motorcycles and mobile phones from their possession.

It is alleged that the minor girls from the neighbouring West Bengal and other parts of the country were being forced into prostitution. The medical examination of the minor girl has been conducted and appropriate steps will be taken for her rehabilitation, police said.

"We have registered two separate cases and arrested some people in connection with the incident. The cases have been registered under various sections including POCSO Act and The Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act as minor girls were being forced into the illegal flesh trade," said Malkangiri SDPO, Abilash G.
