Mayurbhanj: After serving over two months in Rairangpur sub-jail for a murder, which they had not committed, two persons were today released after being acquitted by the SJDM Court.

The development came after the woman, on whose murder charges the duo was booked by the cops, was found alive.
As per reports, one Raimani, wife of Sanjay Naik of Purunapani village under Badampahar Police limits in the district had gone missing three months ago.

After a charred body of woman was found in a jungle near Pahadpur village under the police limits on April 24, the cops had identified the body to be that of Raimani.

Based on the complaint filed by Raimani's family, police then arrested Sanjay and his father Mangal Naik on the charges of murder.

However, the entire incident took a new twist after Rainmani returned home on July 18. Later, she appeared before the Rairangpur SDJM court following which both Sanjay and his father were released from the jail.

"After one month of marriage, Raimani left our house. Despite trying our best, we could not trace her. Subsequently, Raimani's family members filed complaint against us and police arrested me and my father, "said Sanjay.

"During interrogation, we were beaten black and blue by the cops who threatened us to confess the crime. Following the torture, we confessed the crime and we were sent to the jail," he added.

"We were arrested after her family member filed written complaint against us and we were forced by the police to confess to the crime, " said Sanjay's father, Mangal Naik.

On the other hand, Badampahar IIC has refused to comment on the matter.
