Bhubaneswar: After remaining shut for over eleven months due to Covid-19 restrictions, universities and colleges for second-year undergraduate and first-year postgraduate students reopened across the State from today with adherence to the safety protocols and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the State government.

The sitting arrangements in classrooms at the universities and colleges have been made as per the Covid-19 protocols. The classes have been scheduled in a manner that social distancing can be maintained inside the classrooms. Some of the guidelines released by the higher education department include staggered entry, maintaining social distancing, respiratory etiquettes and wearing masks while attending classes.

Odisha government has decided to reopen colleges and universities considering the improvement in Covid-19 situation in the State and the huge academic loss of students due to the pandemic situation. Classroom teaching was suspended since March 2020.

The State has already reopened its colleges for physical classes for final-year undergraduate and postgraduate programmes on January 11.
