Berhampur: Bringing laurels for the State yet again, the government-run Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Berhampur has entered the Asia Book of Records for conceptualizing and designing the largest open-air scrap sculpture museum. The museum named 'The Heart, Mind and Hand Show' spreads over 10000 square metres and has been declared as the largest open-air scrap sculpture park in Asia. It is also the largest museum in any technical institute in India.

Speaking to OTV, ITI Behrampur Principal Dr. Rajat Kumar Panigrahy said, "The scrap sculpture park created on the premises of the institution has been recognized as the largest park in Asia. We are happy that the ability of IIT Berhampur students is recognized across States and countries, which is also an achievement for the skill development mission of the State- 'Skilled in Odisha'."

"Such an innovative concept has sent the message of waste management, and at the same time it also explains how to maintain a green environment. The recognition will boost the brand of the institute subsequently helping the students get better job opportunities," added Panigrahy.

The open-air museum consists of 20 big sculptures including a Giant Guitar, Iron Man, Terminator, Dolphin, Turtle, Helicopter, Chetak, Predator, Spotted Deer, Robot, Reindeer, Lizard, Peacock, Huge Cow, King Kong, Fishing Lure, Tank, Hanging Fish and Giraffe.

This is not the first instance that Berhampur ITI has made it to the record books. The institution had earned a mention in Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records earlier for making giant replicas of a guitar and a giraffe, respectively from scrap materials.

This apart, designs of two more sculptures installed at the institute have been sent for recognition in Guinness Book of World Records.
