Koraput: Maoists have issued death sermons against five villagers through posters in Dandabadi area under Baipariguda police station of Koraput district. The poster has been released in the name of Malkangiri Koraput Vishakhapatnam Border (MKVB) committee of CPI (Maoist).

"In the name of development, the village is being subjected to destruction. Development is only happening for government babus," the poster read.

The persons whose name features in the poster include- Anand Nayak from Ratakhand, Pulo Nayak from Dandabadi, Lokiram Barik, Suri Barik and Majhiguda's Kobrajkida.

Already, an attempt to kill Anand Nayak was made after he was shot at on April 15. It is suspected that the death threat could be based on personal enmity or by the Maoists.

Earlier, Maoists had abducted four persons, including the village guard of Lakhpadar village in Lanjigarh block of Kalahandi district, informed South Western Range DIG, S Shyni on Friday.

The four abducted persons have been identified as Babula Nayak, Raju Nayak, Khetra Harijan and Bisikeshan Harijan.

According to reports, 10-12 members of the outlawed outfit reached the village yesterday afternoon and forcibly took the four with them.

Although the exact reason behind the abduction is not clear yet, sources believe that the red rebels might have kidnapped the villagers suspecting them to be police informers.

On February 16, a super class contractor, Siba Shankar Das was shot dead by Maoists near Pajibahali village under Lanjigarh block of the district. Das was awarded the contract for construction of Bijepur-Pajibahali road under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
