Bhubaneswar: The office of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) on Tuesday asked Collectors and Municipal Commissioners to stay alert in view of the cold wave warning issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

As per the latest weather bulletin, IMD has issued ‘Yellow Warning’ for severe cold wave conditions in three districts of Odisha- Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Nabarangpur in the next 24 hours.

Though cold conditions will be tolerable, it may create health concerns for infant/elderly people in these districts, the weather office said.

The authorities have advised people to avoid prolonged exposure to cold during night/early in the morning. Similarly, all the livestock should be kept indoors and in shaded areas during night and early in the morning.

The cold wave warning will remain in force from 1330 hrs IST of February 9 to 0830 hrs IST of February 10 (tomorrow).

Apart from the cold conditions, shallow to moderate fog is likely to occur at several parts of Odisha during the next 48 hours.

Here’s the complete weather outlook for the next couple of days:

Day 2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 10.02.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 11.02.2021):

Shallow to moderate fog very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Khurda, Kandhamal and Ganjam.

Day 3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 11.02.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 12.02.2021):

Shallow to moderate fog very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bhadrak, Kendrapara Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Angul, Khurda, Nayagarh, Boudh and Kandhamal.

Day 4 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 12.02.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 13.02.2021):

Shallow to moderate fog very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Khurda, Kandhamal and Ganjam.
