Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha are likely to experience thunderstorm and lightning activity on February 19, (tomorrow), predicted the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday.

As per the latest weather bulletin, the IMD has issued a yellow warning for 14 districts of the State. People in the districts of - Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sonepur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Angul and Boudh have been warned to stay alert in view of the thunderstorm and lightning activity.

Similarly, light to moderate rain or thundershower is also likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nawarangpur, Nuapada, Koraput, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Bargarh on February 19-20.


Districts of Sundergarh, Jharsuguda and Bargarh received light rainfall in the past 24 hours.

“The cyclonic circulation over Vidarbha and neighbourhood now lies over south Madhya Maharashtra & neighbourhood at 0.9 km above mean sea level. A cyclonic circulation lies over Coastal Andhra Pradesh & neighbourhood at 3.1 km above mean sea level,” the IMD said in its bulletin.

The highest maximum temperature of 34.2 degree Celsius was recorded at Bolangir and the lowest minimum temperature of 11 degree Celsius was recorded in Phulbani in the past 24 hours.
