Bhubaneswar: A joint-eviction squad led by Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today evicted unauthorized constructions that had come up over the sewage line at the IRC village in Nayapalli.

The squad including officials of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority, BMC and NHAI demolished encroachments along the 2 kms stretch on the NH in order to ensure proper drainage of rain water.

"The sewerage line was blocked due to unauthorised constructions along the stretch because of which the sewage from the area used to get dumped into a canal meant for rainwater drainage leading to waterlogging  in the area during rainy days. The encroachments were also causing insanitary conditions particularly at  Behera Sahi and Bhoi Sahi of Nayapalli," informed Additional Comissioner of BMC, Bhawani Shankar Chayani.

Earlier last week, the enforcement squad had demolished illegal encroachments in front of Iskcon temple and Hotel Presidency.
