Bhubaneswar: It may sound bizarre, but the idols of Jagannath Temple at Pandesara area in Surat have reportedly gone missing. The Odia Samaj in Surat alleged that the idols of the temple have been stolen by a person who was creating nuisance for the past several days.

As per reports, the idols of Lord Balabhadra, Jagannath and Goddess Subhadra were being worshiped at Punit Nagar area during a Ram Charit Manas programme. However, the Odia community found the idols were missing after the temple was opened today.

“It is for the past five years that we have been organizing the special puja here. For the past few days, a local has been creating problems. All the three idols of the temple are stolen now and we suspect the involvement of the aforesaid person behind the incident,” said a member of Odia Community in Surat.

Meanwhile, based on a complaint filed, a probe has been initiated by police in this connection, sources said.
