Puri: Just when the pessimists thought humanity has gone extinct from the hearts of people, Odisha witnessed an inspiring story of two youths of Nimapara area in Puri who displayed honesty by returning a missing vanity bag with jewelleries to its rightful owner.

As per reports, two youths- Alok Nayak and Chandan Barik from Gopinathpatna village in Nimapara area of Puri district, found a vanity bag lying on road while returning to their village on November 8. After opening the bag for IDs thinking that it could help locate the owner, they found jewellery and cash worth around Rs 3 lakh.

While most would get a temptation to have a go at those unclaimed jewelleries, the humanity in Alok and Chandan drove them in the right direction and they immediately informed the villagers who in turn spread the word of a missing bag, on social media.

Days later, when owner of the vanity bag Kaveri Pradhan of nearby Ichhapur area came across the social media post, she was visibly relieved. After getting her bag, she said, “When I searched my vanity bag to pay for a chocolate my daughter wanted to buy, I realised that I have lost it somewhere on the road. I must thank these boys for the honesty they have shown.”

Alok, who was instrumental in returning Kaveri her bag along with the entire valuables inside, said, “We were returning from Jalapur when we found the bag. We handed over the bag to the villagers who then posted the details of the bag on Facebook through which the owner was located.”
