Bhubaneswar: Sweepers of BMC engaged in sanitation and waste removing works in the streets today stumbled upon the skeletal remains of a human being in IRC Village under Nayapalli police limits of the capital city.

Receiving information, police reached the spot and initiated an investigation into the matter. Though the gender is yet to be established, police have recovered the skeletal remains which included skull and bones of other parts of human body. A forensic team has also been called upon to carry out a detailed investigation in this case.

The matter came to the fore early morning today when some sweepers found parts of a human skeleton inside a plastic bag while dumping garbage in the dustbin and informed the police.

Nayapalli Police is also interrogating the sweepers and some locals in this connection. With a hospital located closeby the dumping spot, it is also being suspected that someone from the hospital might have thrown the skeleton in the area.

Police are also examining the CCTV footage of the cameras installed near the dumping spot.
