Khurda: The Khurda district administration today carried out demolishment of the house of mining mafia leader and mastermind of brown sugar trade, Subhranshu Parida alias Chhota. It is alleged that the house was built illegally on government land in Gurujang area.

In presence of the District Magistrate and four platoons of police, the administration engaged two JCB machines to raze the 20-room building of Parida. As per reports, the building’s estimated cost is around Rs 2 crore. Till the filing of this report, the house demolition was going on.

Parida, who was a notorious brown sugar trader operating in Khurda, Bhubaneswar, Jajpur, Puri and other coastal districts, surrendered before the Khurda court last week. He had allegedly hired several other criminals to flourish his drug trade and illegal mining activities by providing monthly salary.

He was in the most wanted list of the Special Task Force of Crime Branch as several cases had been pending against him. However, it is not clear whether the STF will take him on remand to elicit more information about his illegal activities.
