Hot water 'thrown' at 3-year-old girl in Odisha

Subarnapur: A three-year-old girl sustained severe burn injuries after a worker at an Anganwadi Centre in Jatiapalli village of Subarnapur district allegedly threw hot water at her today.

The girl, Pritimayee Mahakur went to the Anganwadi centre this morning to study. Moments later, her parents received information about pouring of hot water on her. They rushed to the Anganwadi only to find her in a critical condition.

“The helper of the Anganwadi visited our house and asked us to send my child. Following this, I dropped my daughter at the Anganwadi. But the helper threw hot water meant for boiling eggs at my child," alleged Panchanan Mahakur, father of the girl child.

When her mother went to the Anganwadi to enquire about her, she found her in critical condition, he added.

Till the filing of last reports, no action was taken against the helper in question.
