Bolangir: Trouble mounts for Dr Narayan Acharya, the Superintendent of Bhima Bhoi medical college and hospital in Bolangir, as police today registered a case against him based on a complaint filed by Sarati Nag, a temporary cleaning staff of the hospital. Sarati has levelled allegations of misbehaviour against the Superintendent and accused him of manhandling her and a relative at his office.

The complainant Sarati Nag was diagnosed with Cancer last year and was on leave during the treatment period. She reportedly joined duty on September 1. However, Superintendent Dr Narayan Acharya dismissed her after she did not come to the hospital due to flood situation in her village on 6th of this month. On September 12, she reached the Superintendent’s office along with a relative to save her job, but was misbehaved and manhandled by the officer, Nag alleged.

Left with no other option, Nag along with a few social workers finally knocked the doors of police today.

The woman alleged, "The Superintendent strangulated me and tried to kill me. I stayed back at home for some days. Sagarika Madam gave me the courage to fight for my rights, so I decided to file a case. He should be punished and I want my job back."

"A case (500/2019) has been registered at the Town Police station. We have already begun an investigation based on the complainant's statements. For the time being, she has been sent to the hospital and allowed to work. Action will be taken based on the probe findings," said Bolangir SDPO, Srimanta Barik.

It is pertinent to mention here that a video purportedly showing the misbehaviour meted out to the cleaning staff, has also gone viral on social media.
