Cuttack: It is the same time of the year when all roads of millennium city Cuttack lead to Quila Maidaan and the banks of river Mahanadi where Odisha’s largest fair, the Bali Yatra is kicked off on the occasion of Kartik Purnima today.

Odisha Speaker SN Patro inaugurated the historic Cuttack Bali Yatra today which is organized in memory of the rich maritime history of the State. Barabati-Cuttack MLA Mohammad Moquim, MP Bhartruhari Mahatab and other elected representatives of the district were present on the occasion. The week-long festival is being organized in even a grander manner after Odisha government accorded it a state-level festival status.

For the first time, the district administration has introduced rickshaw and bicycle facilities for visitors to visit the fair that is organised in over 50 acre area. The move is aimed at reducing pollution.

The Commissionerate Police has also made elaborate arrangements for better security, crowd and traffic management. Keeping in view the large turnout of visitors, provisions for vehicle parking have been made at 10 different locations.

Over 1,400 stalls selling a wide range of products and several mouth-watering dishes will be the centre of attraction during Bali Yatra.

Apart from Cuttack, the third edition of Bhubaneswar Bali Yatra was also kicked off at Kuakhai river bank in Bhubaneswar today. As per reports, over 500 stalls have been set up this year.
