Bhubaneswar: Accusing the ruling-BJD of hijacking the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday filed FIR against the Odisha government and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at several police stations across the State.

The members of the BJP Mahila Morcha filed FIR against the Odisha CM at the Capital Police Station alleging that the State government is using the Biju Pucca Ghar logo on houses constructed under the central housing scheme.

Even though the Centre is funding the central housing scheme, the State government is hijacking it by using the sticker of Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana, alleged Subashini Prusty, member of the State BJP's women wing.

"How long will the ruling-BJD tell lie to the people of Odisha and run the government in the State? Protesting the same, we have lodged an FIR against CM Naveen," she added.

On Monday, the BJP activists staged demonstration in front of all the 314 blocks in the State protesting the same.

Prithviraj Harichandan, general secretary of the State BJP unit, had earlier said that 'if the Naveen government does not stop hijacking the central government scheme, the BJP will stage protests in front of block offices and police stations on December 28 and 29, respectively'.

Harichandan had also alleged massive irregularities in the implementation of PMAY and said that the scheme is mired in corruption in the State as BJD leaders are availing the benefits of the housing scheme instead of the eligible beneficiaries.
