Kendrapara: Officials of Vigilance department on Friday conducted simultaneous raids on office and residence of a high school teacher on charges of accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The teacher identified as Ranjan Kumar Nayak is currently posted as an Assistant teacher at the Jampada Girls High School in the district.

According to sources, multiple teams of vigilance conducted simultaneous raids at four places including Nayak’s ancestral house in Kalapada, his office at the Jampada Girls’ High School and his in-laws’ house at Bahakandiain connection with the disproportionate assets case.

As per the preliminary reports, the anti-graft officials have found cumulative assets worth Rs 1.5 crore, and seized valuables including 500 grams of gold ornaments, five trucks, a car, motor cycleand other several important documents from his possession.

An investigation is currently underway and further details are awaited.
